THE THORN IN THE SIDE OF HUMANITY

Human preservation is the priority of the natural processes and mechanisms of the human species. No one likes the idea of death — unless it is the death of one’s enemy or perhaps you are a hyper charismatic who is under the impression that all enemies of progress must die. Self-preservation at its definition is not a bad thing, rather it is the way people act out self-preservation that is nuanced and malevolent at times. Self-preservation is a natural mechanism: it is the voice of the genes and how it rates success. At the core of self-preservation is survival (adaptation to the environment and comfort) and continuity through reproduction. For most species reproduction is the protracted form of immortality available and the means to ensure that an identity perpetuates in a given location.

This instinct to self-preserve is a voice that is seated biologically in man. In many ways, we act it out each and every single day. The voice that undergirds most of the actions people take. And the voice is very clear when it speaks. It is able to mediate between that which is malevolent and good. That inherent information structures our preceptory powers when confronted with a choice. It is a guidance system that turns humans to seek pleasure and escape suffering. Some professionals of psychology would argue that this voice is the birthplace of the religious conception of heaven and hell. It is true to an extent in reality, on a behavioural level, but it does not make the theology of heaven and hell necessarily false, however, the concept has been extrapolated and acted out in human…
